If you are searching for a make up artist in Benoni, you probably want to know three things quickly: what it costs, whether the artist can do the look you have in mind, and whether there is a slot on your date. This page covers all three.
ShowUp Beauty & Studio is a studio in Crystal Park, so you come to us rather than waiting for someone to find parking at your venue. Your artist works on your skin tone, your outfit and the lighting you will actually be in, whether that is a wedding hall, a school dance or a photoshoot.
Already know what you want? Go straight to booking. If you would like lashes, brows or a facial on the same day, you can combine them in one visit: see our lash extensions, brow treatments and facials.
What makeup costs at our Benoni studio
Prices below match what you pay when you book online. A soft look takes less time than a full glam, and extras such as lashes or a trial are separate.
Soft glam
Soft, wearable makeup for work events, dinners, a date, or a day you want to feel put together.
Bridal makeup
Long-wearing, photo-ready makeup built around your skin and your dress. A trial is recommended beforehand.
Full glam
Matric dances, birthdays, graduations and photoshoots. Built to survive camera flash and a long night.
Makeup trial
A full run-through of your chosen look before the big day, so you can change anything while there is still time.
Not sure which one you need? Pick the closest option when you book online and tell us the occasion in the notes. We will confirm the right service with you.
Which makeup suits which occasion
The same face needs different makeup depending on where it will be seen. This is the guidance we give clients when they are unsure.
| Occasion | What works best | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Bridal | Skin that looks like skin, defined eyes, and a lip colour that still looks right in the last photos of the night. | Book a trial. Bring a photo of your dress and, if you have it, your veil or hair accessory. |
| Matric dance | Polished but age-appropriate glam, with a base that holds through hours of dancing and photos. | Dance season fills fast. Book as soon as you have your date and dress colour. |
| Photoshoot | Slightly more definition than you would wear in person, with a matte or soft-focus base. | Tell us the lighting: studio flash, outdoor daylight and phone cameras all read makeup differently. |
| Wedding guest or event | One feature to focus on, either eyes or lips, with a skin finish that stays fresh for hours. | Bring your outfit colour or a photo. We pick tones that flatter it. |
| Everyday | Light coverage, groomed brows and a lip or cheek colour that looks like you on a good day. | A good option if you want to learn what suits you before booking a bigger occasion. |
How to prepare for your makeup appointment
- Arrive with a clean, moisturised face. Dry skin makes foundation cling and flake. If your skin is dry, moisturise the night before as well.
- Bring pictures, and your outfit if you can. Two or three photos of looks you like, plus a photo of the dress or outfit, saves guesswork. Tell us what you do not like as well.
- Tell us about sensitivities. If you react to fragrance, certain adhesives (relevant if you are adding lashes) or specific ingredients, say so when you book.
- Plan your hair around your makeup time. For events with a dress that pulls over your head, wear a button-up top to your appointment so nothing smudges on the way out.
- Tell us how long you need it to last. A 2pm ceremony and a midnight reception need different prep from a two-hour shoot. We adjust the base and setting to suit.
Planning a bigger day? Combine your makeup with lash extensions or brow shaping a few days beforehand so everything is done in time for your date.
Makeup that lasts in Gauteng weather
The Highveld is dry for much of the year, and dry skin shows up in makeup quickly: patchy foundation, tight-looking cheeks, powder that settles into fine lines. In winter we focus on hydration before colour goes on.
In the warmer months, the problem flips. Heat, humidity and a late summer storm can break down a base, so we use lighter layers, set the areas that move the most, and finish with a setting spray. If your event is outdoors, tell us so we can plan for it.
Photos add their own rules. Some sunscreens and powders reflect flash and leave a pale cast on camera (often called flashback). If you are having a wedding or matric photoshoot, mention it at booking and we will choose products that behave well in flash.
